ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Our cities are increasingly shaped and reshaped by an enormous amount of data emerged as a result of technological, social and institutional innovations. This new circumstance profoundly influences the way we interact with the physical and virtual environments, raising unprecedented challenges in many aspects. How do architects and urban professionals respond to this disruptive change? How can we reinvent ourselves, embracing new knowledge and methodologies and harnessing new technologies and tools to stay relevant and regenerate our cities towards a resilient, equitable and liveable future?
The Bachelor of Architecture Programme in Urban Regeneration and Design is developed to address these questions. Seated at Tsinghua University in China, this programme provides students with an unparalleled learning opportunity. It leverages the university’s comprehensive set of disciplines and especially its world’s leading research on computer science and digital technologies to craft a new architectural education that is interdisciplinary, design-oriented, and technology-based. Taking China’s urbanisation as a fertile soil for design innovation, it also involves students in real-world urban regeneration projects as an integral part of the study to nurture their talents and abilities through knowledge application.
Fully taught in English, this programme aims to equip graduates with strategic vision, cutting-edge knowledge, technological competence, innovative creativity, social responsibility, and all necessary skills to become future leaders to create better cities in and beyond Asia.

Architectural and urban design in the new era will have to engage with the opportunities opened by computer science and AI technologies. Understanding and applying latest technologies and tools through the lens of design thinking is a core ability for students to grasp complex urban problems and generate innovative solutions.
